1st Ave South Kitchen renovation

The homeowners were happy with the layout of the kitchen in their south Minneapolis bungalow, but they wanted to replace the golden oak cabinets, dark backsplash and dated countertop with something fresh and modern. They also needed a better solution for their refrigerator, located just off of the kitchen. We updated the space with cool blue base cabinets and gorgeous walnut uppers, complimented by a large format terrazzo tile backsplash with specks of golds and blues and an understated honed stone countertop. We borrowed some space from an adjacent bedroom to recess the refrigerator and surrounded it with custom walnut built-in cabinetry. The floors were refinished to a softer, more natural finish and modern, playful hardware was installed to complete the look.
