From the first meeting to the final walkthrough, we will guide you through the construction process. Here’s what to expect when you work with us:
Initial Consultation
We will meet with you at your home to learn more about your project, timeline and budget. We’ll discuss your needs, goals, and design preferences. We’ll also take measurements and photos of the space to aid in the estimation process.
Project Design
After the initial consultation, we will get to work on the development of your project. This stage will require back and forth communication with you and may take a few weeks. We will develop 2D floor plans and 3D renderings of the layout, obtain quotes from subcontractors and work with you to make design and material selections that meet your budget in order to provide you with a project proposal.
Project Proposal
Once we have made layout and design decisions, selected materials and obtained subcontractor estimates, we will send you a project proposal. The proposal will include a detailed scope of work, specific information regarding the material selections, an estimated timeline for project completion, project cost and terms of payment, conditions, and information about your rights as a client under Minnesota’s mechanic’s lien and warranty laws.
Contract
If you agree to the project proposal, we will forward you our service agreement. The contract outlines client and contractor expectations and obligations for completion of the project. When you sign the contract, we will put your project on our calendar and begin the pre-construction work such requesting permits, ordering materials and scheduling subcontractors. A down payment of 10% of the project cost is due at the time the contract is signed.
Project Prep
The first step of most construction projects is demolition, and before that takes place we will take care to move or cover any furniture and seal doorways to ensure that the rest of your home remains as clean and free of dust as possible. If your project involves a kitchen remodel, we’ll move your appliances to an alternative location and work with you to set up a temporary cooking and eating station.
PROJECT CONSTRUCTION
During project construction, Stefano will be on site regularly to oversee the work and to manage subcontractors, while Cara will stop by from time to time to view progress and consult with you on any material or design selections that have not been finalized.
Once construction is underway, it’s not uncommon for homeowners to request changes to the scope of work or materials. Sometimes, changes are necessary due to unanticipated conditions. When this happens, we will work with you to find solutions that work for the project and your budget.
You will receive weekly emails with an update on progress made and a look ahead on what to expect in the week ahead. You will have access to shared documents to track materials ordered and project cost. We want you to feel informed about the process and confident in our management of your project from start to finish.
PROJECT COMPLETION
As construction wraps up, we will work with you to ensure that every detail is addressed. Whether it’s ensuring that an outlet plate is perfectly straight, tightening the hinges on a cabinet door or making paint touch ups, we want everything perfect. Upon completion of the project, we’ll arrange for a professional photo shoot of the new space and we’ll give you access to those photos so that you can share them with friends and family.

Frequently asked questions
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Sette Colli Home Remodeling is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. We carry general liability insurance of two million dollars, in excess of the minimum amount required.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. In accordance with Minnesota law, your home is guaranteed to be free of defects caused by faulty workmanship or materials for one year; free of defects caused by faulty installation of heating, cooling, electrical, or plumbing systems for two years; and free of major construction defects for ten years.
Who is responsible for permits?
Sette Colli Home Remodeling will pull all necessary building permits and ensure that those permits are inspected and closed out upon completion of the project.
Can I live in my house while it is being remodeled?
Yes. We understand the importance of maintaining a clean living space. We will take care to seal off the construction zone from the rest of the home, broom sweep the work area at the end of each day and take steps to keep dust out of your living quarters.
How will you communicate with us?
Stefano will be on the job site regularly and available to answer your questions. We will also send you a weekly email update that identifies progress to date, what to expect in the coming week, and any decisions that need to be made. Finally, you will have access to shared documents to track project costs and materials.
Will our remodel increase the value of our home?
Usually, yes. However, the impact of a remodel on the resale value of your house depends on the housing market, the project itself and how soon after the project you sell your home. Cara is a licensed REALTOR® and is happy to consult with you on the impact of a remodel project on your home’s value.
