1st Ave South Kitchen renovation

The original kitchen in this South Minneapolis Craftsman home was cramped, enclosed, poorly lit, and it lacked adequate storage. This busy family needed a better solution – one that placed the kitchen at the heart of their home. We closed a doorway to the kitchen to recover additional wall space that could be used for cabinets, then removed a wall, opening the kitchen up to the dining room and living room, and bringing much needed natural light into the space. New oak floors were laid to match those in the rest of the home. Crisp, white cabinets and gorgeous blue glass backsplash tile are a beautiful compliment to the warm original woodwork throughout the home.  A wide peninsula with beautiful, period-appropriate pendant lighting adds countertop space and serves as a casual eating space or homework spot for kids.
