52nd st home renovation

This city bungalow was adorable, but it lacked functionality. The rooms were small and closed off to one another. The narrow steep stairs leading to the unfinished lower level was an obstacle to making better use of that below ground square footage. Like many homes its age, the space was not well thought-out, with valuable inches lost to soffits, walls and inefficient cabinetry. Cara, Stefano and team went to work to recover as much space as they could! Opening the kitchen to the living room, moving a wall a few inches to make a bigger bedroom and enlarging the bathroom on the main floor made a world of difference. Rebuilding the stairs to the lower level to allow for comfortable access and adding a family room, bedroom and large bathroom turned this home into the perfect urban retreat.
